Nutritional advice
Have you ever wondered if you are feeding your dog a healthy meal? Do you want your dog to be and stay healthy? Wondering which food is best for your puppy? Do you also believe that a healthy mind begins in a healthy body?
A healthy mind starts within a healthy body
It is important to examine the dog holistically and therefore in its entirety
Behavior and nutrition are linked. A dog that is not feeling well has a shorter temper. Many behavioral problems stem from constant itching, abdominal pain, allergies, discomfort, ... Unfortunately, we do not always notice when our dogs are suffering. If you can address these issues, your dog will feel better and you will notice changes in behavior.
It is even better to avoid such inconveniences by feeding your dog the right food as soon as possible.
Did you know...
- Many dogs are too fat, which means they live considerably less long
- A dog is a carnivore and therefore needs meat
- A dog can produce serotonin (= feel good hormone) by eating meat
- A dog can create carbohydrates itself and therefore does not need rice, potatoes or pasta
- That extra carbohydrates do more harm than good
-
Correct nutrition during the puppy period is extremely important for later development
- Many dogs have deficits of important nutrients
- Dogs also need diversity in their meals
- A dog that has more than 3 stools per day most likely has an allergy or intolerance
- 80 to 85% of the immune system relies on the guts
- Allergy often develops after 9 months, or in young dogs
- The following diseases can be caused by poor nutrition:
diseases of the musculoskeletal system due to rapid or irregular bone growth, allergies / intolerances, pancreatitis, obesity, kidney stones / bladder stones, diseases due to deficiency, CNI (chronic kidney insufficiency), cancer, thyroid problems
There are two possibilities
Preventive feeding plan
We draw up a preventive feeding plan. This is recommended for puppies, younger dogs, but also for older dogs. The dog does not show any health problems, but you will adjust the feeding plan in such a way that health problems are avoided as much as possible in the future. Diseases usually only develop over time!
What can you expect within a preventive feeding plan:
We will analyze the food you are currently feeding your dog.
We will then discuss with you which changes you are open to. Ultimately, you should also feel good about the chosen diet plan. We always look for a balance between what is best for the dog and what is achievable for you.
Based on the weight and age of the dog we will determine what the best food is. A tailor-made plan is written in which is clearly described what you have to do.
Targeted nutrition plan
Your dog already has health problems. Even though these problems have nothing to do with nutrition, a targeted nutrition plan can help. Think of kidney problems, allergies, cancers, diabetes, liver and pancreas problems, etc.. The adjusted diet aims to support/speed up the healing process or slow down the disease process.
What can you expect within a targeted nutrition plan:
We will analyze the food you are currently feeding your dog.
If necessary, we will work closely with a veterinarian for blood samples or other tests.
Based on the weight and age of the dog and the illness of the dog, we will determine what the best food is. A tailor-made plan is written in which is clearly described what you have to do.
We regulary keep contact to follow-up the evolution of the dog.
